I read about them yesterday in the new Cycle Torque. Gonna check supplier Monday next week for pricing and availability, as I might try these on my bike when I require them.

Yep, took a squiz a while back while doing research, they only had a PR blurb though.

Looks interesting enough!

Another new set of tyres to try are Pirelli Diablo Rossos, apparently quite nice too.

Seen them at Team Moto Virginia.
The tead pattern is alittle to be desired looking at them for in the wet.

Wouldn't mind trying them though to see how they compare.

Will be iteresting to hear riders feedback when they have been round for a bit on how long they last.

Hi guys and girls! just got myself a new set of the BT016 and I am very happy with them. Had Pilot Powers before not the 2CT. The Pilots gave great feed back but jumping on the 16's today and scrubbing them in over Nebo and down to the T. Wow!! fan-bloody-tastic!! More feel - Not so tippy - and they stick like S@#T to a Blanket!! and thats on an 07 XJR1300. Can brake later in to corners, than on the Pilots and they just keep on gripping.
Had fun going up and coming down the Mountain.. I have been converted??!!!!!!??????

Maybe do it all again tomorrow..

Cheers

I had the OEM version on the gixxer for about 2000km. Apparent difference to the retail hoops is that the front is a single compound and the rear is a dual compound. That might be outdated info though.

Didn't really like them all that much as far as profile went. Kinda felt like I was on a tiny contact patch at the usual lean angles, though got a bit better when leaned over a lot. They gripped no problems though.

John sells them at QR. and fits and balances. i have a set on the Bandit. so far i've put 2000k's of spirited riding and they look great. Bit higher tyre pressure works well with them. 36psi front cold and 42psi rear cold. Get movement of 4psi hot. a mate also has a set on his R1 and he likes them too. The 016's have a triple band compound for the rear, and dual compound for the front. They work well in the wet as i have had a couple 6AM rides to Gympie and back through Melaney etc. i've tried conti's, didn't like em.
john has them for competitive price to anywhere else, and is at the QR Champions ride days and race meetings.

front

rear

Don't mind the grey strips, that's just my dirty garage floor. LOL.

I'm on my second set of 016s, they arent too bad a tyre, only got about 5500k out of the front, wore the sides out first. The rear i got just over 4000k out of it and that was with a fairly spirited run to Tenterfield one sunday.

Whoever told you that is feeding you some serious shite mate. The oem tyre on the gixers are identical to the a/m tyre except for a tiny diff in tread pattern on the front.

Mine have been awesome, grip everywhere, great stability at all lean angles etc. I run them at 35 front 38 rear. Works perfectly for me.

its a 1250s bandit. The only thing i found by dropping the pressures was, improved grip for a short period of time, then the rear tyre would overheat and become slippery, especially if on the side of the tyre for long periods, ( e.g. sweepers) but the bandits suspension leaves a lot to be desired. LOL. So i found higher pressures worked better cause the tyres seemed to stay in there operating temp range, and less sidewall movement.
I'm not too fussed on how long they last, just so long as they work.

i thought increasing the pressure (rather than decreasing) you'd be more prone to overheating and cooking your tyres ? ? ? someone clear this up for me haha im confused !

Its all very complicated.Track/road conditions, weather conditions, suspension set-up, chasis set-up and riding style have a lot to do with what is gained or lost from a tyre. What i have posted is only in my experience with what i have tried, i'm not saying it's the same for everyone. I could go into the logistics of pressures etc, but my typing is not that good LOL.
Is your theory something you have tried yourself, or what you have heard?

i found that the hard / higher the pressure i had in my tyres the quicker they would ball up and fall apart - - -

And is that with the 016's?
I didn't have that problem, pictures are back up the page.

no thats just with tyres in general . BT015's(ewww stock), pilot powers, M3's, pirellli diablos (those being what i have used) ... there has to be a clear answer to this - i just want to know haha. my very VERY limited knowledge behind it suggests that a higher tyre pressure has the potential to generate more heat quicker into the rubber and therefore making your tyres cook faster - regardless of what tires they are
