I've currently got conti sport attacks on the gixxer (after being convinced by some of my fellow riders' positive reports) and I'm loving them. they turn in *very* fast compared to the pilots that were on the bike when I bought it (pilot road rear and race medium front); almost scary fast to begin with.

I've only mostly been commuting on them, but have had a couple runs in the mountains (including scrubbing them in) and one day at qr... I don't push them to anywhere near their limits though, so I can't speak to their ability in that regard.

Always ran Pilot Powers on the road, and Bridgestones on the track. I tried Metzelers on the track last time I was there, dropped 1 second a lap instantly, I liked them so much I am not going to use anything else for a long time.

High grip, smooth to slide the rear under power exiting corners and very predictable, no bucking/kicking or unexpectedly letting go.

Was Racetec K2, I think they are up to K3 now, so I think I had an older tyre and I loved it. Can't wait to try out the more road based tyre on the R6

Now I reckon most people over compensate with track day tyres on street bikes. I have been using Pilot Roads (Sports/Touring tyre) and have had no issue at all with grip, since I moved I have been doing a lot more highway riding to get to the good stuff. I really should have been counting kms to see how long they last. Found that Pilot Powers didn't last too long and were next to useless on the track.

Alright, their website is not much help, can anyone tell me the difference between Metzeler Roadtec Z6 and Sportstec M1.

I now do quite a bit of highway riding since I have moved, but its super cereal business once I get to the twisties. I guess I do 70% highway 30% mountains. I want a reasonable amount of grip to be there in the fast stuff, but because of a lot of highway riding I will need a harder compound.

Not too worried about wet grip either.

Long story short, I want to know which tyre is the equivalent of the Pilot Road 2.

the Z6 is metz "sport touring" tyre,

having said that they hold up to a mates st1300 bus for over 8k kms and he rides the thing hard... like full leathers hang of the seat hard LOL

seem to have ample grip for him, but i dont think the profile lends itself to big lean stuff

cheers.joe.

So would they be designed for heavier bikes?
Not too much worried about the lean, I am using an oversized front tyre (120/70, stock is 120/60) and I can get much more lean out of that.

i might be looking for some new tyres sometime soon, have had the current OE Pirellis on there for 10,500kms now. Rear is looking square and the front not much better.

The only person i can think of who runs silimar sized tyres to me is the great megareg 100/80 front and 130/70 rear is what the little book tells me. I know muck is apparently the man to see, but was just looking for some opinions, based on that its a light arse bike. and i barely push the limits of the bike at least imo tongue.gif So not looking for a slow to heat up tread but also looking for grip in wet (big thing i fucking hate riing in the wet) grip for a bit of fun occasionally on weekends and good wear. i know im asking alot but putting it out here for yas tongue.gif

link to cbf 250 manual http://campaigns.hondampe.com.au/Motorcycl...uals/CBF250.pdf page 34/44 for tyres tongue.gif
