Tyre: Dunlop GPRa11 180/70-17 & 120/70-17
Bike: 2009 Ducati Hypermotard
Usage: Weekend Rider
Odo on fitting: 231
Odo on disposal: TBA
Pressure: 34 PSI cold ( front & rear )
Notes: Not even scrubbed in yet ....will advise after trying them out smile.gif)

Dec 7 - Just over 1000 kms on the Dunlops - Very impressed with their quick warmup- tip in is progressive and front tyre gives great confidence in the turns ... very good so far thumbsup.gif

Recommended by Wolf ( Mick's Bike & Car Tyres )

Rear tyre down to the markers, so very close to bald in the middle. Could probably get another 1000k's or so out of them but they would be sketchy in the wet, so off it comes. Will prolly get many more 1000's of k's out of the front tyre. Dry grip was the same as when I put the tyres on ... very good that is smile.gif

ODO on disposal: 3663 = 3432 life. Probably the worst tyre wear I have personally experienced, but I also have never owned a twin with bucket loads of torque like it has wink.gif Would be interesting how long they would have lasted on a litre bike with an inline 4 motor. The pulsing of the twin tends to tear them to peices on the road surface, not to mention a heavy handed throttle from a rider thouroughly enjoying a new bike biggrin.gif

Summary: Very enjoyable tyre to ride on ... fast warm up and very confidence inspiring in the grip levels smile.gif Probably would not suit a daily commuter, but excellent for a weekend mountain scratch, and I would say a very good track day tyre also thumbsup.gif

I second that write up. Really was happy with the tyres in the dry, however in the wet they were a bit hairy. Commuting was ok in the wet, but pushing her a little and you quickly realised they just aint suited to faster wet riding.

Managed 3500 k's, with noticeable centre wear. Without measuring actual tread depth, I would suggest around 8,000k's out of the rear, the front hardly looked worn. I did say the next rear I would try running her at 42 psi for commuting, then dropping her back to 36 psi for fun riding, to try to limit the centre wear. I would think the amount of grip the tyres have, it shouldnt have caused an issue.

devil.gif I have used both sport attack and road attack on my bird biggrin.gif thicker carcass on the road attack so it takes a little longer to heat up than the thinner sport attack , once it has heated still sticks like shit to a blanket on the bird and good wear, had it on when chris [powers] was following on a combined forums ride cpl years ago, chris comented on the grip and lean angles we were getting 2 up tongue.gif , the pulse of the twin does effect both grip and wear though, although used to get good levels of both on tlr1000 with em so shouldnt be any dramas, just be aware , the contis will turn in faster than most biggrin.gif

Shinko 003's

I got approx 12000 out of the rear, and this included a couple of burnouts, and approximately 17000 out of the front.

Sounds like a good idea I should try that as well
but on average I get anywhere from 5000 - 8000 depends on how I ride and if there is a track day in there as well.
Will have to keep a closer eye on them.

Bike: 2005 Honda VTR1000F
Usage: Daily commuter, occasional weekend use
Odo on fitting: 124, 752
Odo on disposal: TBA
Pressure: 36 PSI cold
Notes: Rear only, second tyre fitted. Front Sport Attack still ok. Also fitted DID 530 chain, replaced sprockets, changed ratio to 15/48. Bulk bottom end, very different feel and kind of fun so far tongue.gif Haven't had a chance to test properly yet. If it proves to be too much, will put spare 16 tooth front back on.

Normaly only use standard Qualifiers or Pilot Powers.
Just had a Power 2CT put on the B-King rear at 15153k's.
Running low on cash and points so this one might last a little longer.

QUOTE (Tony Nitrous @ Dec 27 2009, 03:33 AM) *
Although I get through a few, I dont think my opinion's worth much here.

If I get 4000k out of a tyre im VERY happy.
If I do highway miles and square them off, too many run's at the drags,
too many punctures or get a camera pointed at me they get toasted.

Normaly change fronts at the same time if I can afford it,
really like a matching pair, wear and brand.
Half worn fronts get sold/saved as spares or binned.

Pretty wasteful but what the hell !

(Just off to see Mick for yet ANOTHER)

I know that bridge Tony wink.gif

Tyre: Bridgestone 003RS 190/50-17 & 120/70-17 (standard)
Bike: 2004 ZX10R
Usage: All sorts, commute, sport, track days (x2 half days)
Odo on fitting: Not 100% sure
Odo on disposal: Ditto
Lifespan of Tires: approx 7500k's (which is crazy considering how much i punish those tires)
Pressure: 32/33 PSI cold (front & rear) 30 psi track
Notes: Absolutely loved those tires... Gave fantastic levels of grip, heated up rather quickly (for a Bridgestone) and considering that the tires copped a bit of a flogging with the track days etc i was surprised to get 7500k's out of them. Relatively even wear between front and rear. Just got a new set put on their last week so we'll see how we go with these ones (my commuting has increased somewhat).

Odo on fitting: Approx 68500k's
Odo on disposal: TBA
Lifespan of Tires: TBA
Pressure: 32/33 PSI cold (front & rear 36-38rear if two up) 30 psi track
Notes: 2nd pair of these tires now... Got them fitted last week. Will edit down the track with additional info

Since I can't edit my earlier post, I'll update it in this one.

Tyre: Pirelli Diablo Rosso - Front - 120/70
Bike: 2008 Suzuki GSXR 750
Usage: 100km weekly commute, general travel, and weekend burns.
Odo on fitting: 32000
Odo on disposal: 40436
Total Km life: 8436
Pressure: 36 PSI cold
Notes: Bog-standard Pirelli Diablo Rosso. These kind of tyres seem to prefer going around corners with a positive throttle. Works well with a Pirelli Angel ST rear. Seemed to take about 300km to build up the appropriate grip level for the particular tyre I had. On disposal, there was usable tread on most areas of the tyre with the exception of the upper RHS being at the wear markers from road camber.

Bike: 2004 Honda VFR800
Usage: Weekend Rider
Total Km life: 9605
Pressure: 38 PSI cold
Notes: Always gripped well especially in the wet, bald in the middle with a little bit left on each side. Works great with Pirelli Diablo Rosso on the front.
Will be trying the Angel ST on the rear this time.

YEEEEHAWWWW!!! I've just come back from scrubbing 'em in around the block.......HoooYahhh. These are the best tyres/bike combo I have ever had, they make feel like feel like a riding god! (© Richard Hammond with slight modification thumbsup.gif ) Seriously, I have never had a better suited tyre to a bike in my life, thanks Con at Brisbane Motorcycle Tyres at Slacks Creek for the suggestion (bargain too!). I'm sure they are not going to be the best in the wet and I'm thinking I'll be lucky to see 3k outta them, but bring it on! It sure is going to be fun.
