Sorry to ruin this for you... but... there is no track day at morgan park on the 14th of september - the 14th of september is the date entries open for the track day on the Friday 23rd October - however I will be at that one.
Hope to see you out there.

Yup sign me up for this one. Also if anyone understands the motorcycle sportsman licence setup let me know what I have to do, I'm happy to do the annual licence as it will probably work out cheaper in the end but can I sort this out easily?

Ok Licenses are as follows -

We allow anyone to enter our track/coaching days (we have coaches there for you to use) you do not have to be a member of the club for track days, but more members means a stronger club that can organise more events.

All licensing is done through Motorcycling Australia.

You can get what is called a one event license valid for practise/coaching at a cost of $20.

For the yearly license - you have 2 real options.

Recreational License - great for track days. I believe it's $80/year. No requirements except you have to lodge an application through Motocycling Qld. Does not cover you is you want to enter race events - depending on the race event you may be able to get a One Event License (different from the track day one event license and costs $45)

National Race License - $265/year. This license allows you to race at any MA sanctioned event in the country. Also covers you for practise events. you are required to join a MA sanctioned club (motorcycle sportsmen being the obvious choice here). I believe you also need to have a either a road license or a cert of competency from a coaching day (not 100% on this). For national level race meetings you can not get a one Event License (except for some historic meetings).

I would recommend you sign up for the track day as soon as nominations open as they usually fill up quite quickly.

Hope to catch more of you at the track. In no time you'll have a race addiction. Track days are fun, but nothing beets the buzz of lining up on the grid!

Also I recommend that you head out the night before and stay at a pub or motel or something. Makes for a much more relaxed day. And most track days are followed up by a weekend of racing so if you wanted to stay and help out with flagging or something we love the help. Great track side seats and free food for flaggies. Also if you stay out to help saturday and sunday we pay for you sat night accommodation and throw a BBQ sat night to feed you. So works out to be a pretty good cheap weekend, and all the racing guys love to talk.

See you out there.

Most of the time they book out, keep in mind also that this a club, ie its primary function is to promote motorcycle racing for its members and arrange trackdays, training for its membership (*who are in essence a group). So unlike a promoter or trackday company its staffed and run by unpaid volunteers so yes it can take a bit longer.

Best thing to do is support the club, become a financial member, bring a volunteer to help on the day and enjoy it. biggrin.gif

They are a great bunch of people, I am sure you'll forgive them once you get out there and see all the energy, time and commitment that this club puts into the sport.

Fair call Ed smile.gif I have tried quite a few times over the past years to contact the club to make enquiries and post stuff on their for sale pages, and never seem to get a response, so its just frustration kicking in banghead.gif

I just want a heap of info for myself, and also to pass onto other WR members, and to make sure that we dont miss out because nobody answered my calls for help wacko1.gif

For sale is now through our forum so we don't have to update it.
I'm here asking you what you want to know as a representative of the club. So ask smile.gif Anything I can't answer straight away I'll be able to ask the others this weekend.
Although I'll make a couple of statements - group discounts will be a no, as yellow mentioned it's a club, it is one big group.
Entries don't open till the 14th September.
Easiest way to enter is to download the entry form - fill it out and either scan and email or fax it to the club and do a bank transfer of the $ and note the receipt number on your entry form - probably use your name as the description of the payment so it's easy to find.

Yes you can race, you would be on track racing with 4stroke 400's and 250's and other 250 production strokes - and I believe 125GP bikes are on the track at the same time.
Doesn't matter what you have - we will find a group to put you in where you can have fun.

See you out there!

Sweet ... well you have already answered my question about the group discounts smile.gif

1) What is the cost for the track day? any other costs?

2) what time do gates open & what time does the racing commence and finish?

3) is there any power available for tyre warmers?

4) are there pit bays like QR?

5) are there lunch failities?

6) with a group of WR members wanting to do a group thing, is it better for everyone to book individually?

7) are lap timers permitted

8) how many groups are there and how long are the sessions?

9) any tyre changing facilities ( puncture repairs etc )

10) where is the cheap accomodation in town and how much?

11) How close is the nearest fuel?

Cant think of anything else at the moment tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Phew.. Unload the questions wink.gif

1) What is the cost for the track day? any other costs?
Friday track days are $150 (corrected)
MA License is $20 (required if you don't have a MA Recreational ($80) or better (Senior Club, Senior National) license
Car Ports (Optional - I just setup on the grass area - bringing a quick shade is great if you do this) - We have to charge for the car ports - part of the track hire agreement.
Powered Carport - $55
Unpowered Car port - $30

2) what time do gates open & what time does the racing commence and finish?
Gates usually open 7:30am
On track 9am (depending on how organised everyone is and how quick riders briefing is)
Usually Finish ~ 4:30

3) is there any power available for tyre warmers?
Yes if you rent a powered carport or bring a generator.

4) are there pit bays like QR?
I don't know what the QR ones are like.
Think car port bays, concrete floor - tin roof.
You comfortably fit 2 bikes in a bay.

5) are there lunch failities?
Not on fridays.
Subway/McDonalds and many other places are in town which is a 5 min drive.

6) with a group of WR members wanting to do a group thing, is it better for everyone to book individually?
If you decide to get pit bays - get one person to book them so you are all together.

7) are lap timers permitted
Lap timing is included. Also you can bring your own.

8) how many groups are there and how long are the sessions?
3-4 groups: Fast, Medium, Slow, + depending on if we have juniors or lots of Motards or small capacity race machines a group for them. Start a 15mins per session usually shorten them down to 10 mins as the day goes on.

9) any tyre changing facilities ( puncture repairs etc )
Won't know till closer to the date - John from JNRace often brings his rig out to do tyre changes.

10) where is the cheap accomodation in town and how much?
I personally use O'Mahoneys Pub, It's close, it's cheap, it's an irish pub. $35/night for singles, $50 night for double bed.
There is plenty of other accommodation in warwick though, motels, hotels and camp sites if you like that.

11) How close is the nearest fuel?
BP, and I think caltex - in town - 5 mins.

Hope this gets you more organised.
Remember to book early or miss out. Also if you can bring someone out to flag that's always appreciated.
